Love in the Outback is due for publication at the end of this month, so I thought I’d better tell you about it. This is my own, deeply personal, ‘strawberry’ in the desert.
I wrote Love in the Outback to try and make sense of the wondrous thing that’s happened over the past five years, how after decades of chasing the wrong men, endlessly repeating the same mistakes over and over again, I finally got it. I finally worked out that there’s a difference between love and romance. Of course, it didn’t happen overnight, and it didn’t happen without some very rocky moments when I came close to repeating the mistakes of the past – with disastrous consequences.
The journey has been a long one, and I wouldn’t have missed a moment of it. It took me from England to Australia, then into the depths of remote Australia, on a voyage of discovery that opened my eyes to the real beauty of this extraordinary world we live in. I learnt that love can turn up in the most unexpected places and that kindness and community matter more than money or status.
I learnt that life can surprise you, no matter how old you are.
Here’s what the publisher, Macmillan, says about it:
Thank you for your patience, normal blogging service will be resumed next week when I’ll tell you about the seeds I’ve been saving that are big enough to fell a grown man.
Monsanto eat your heart out.
I'm a writer based in Australia with a passion for gardening, remote places and people with a story to tell.
Can’t wait until it’s available for my Kindle.

Hello Carolyn, thanks for getting in touch and sorry you’re having trouble getting hold of the book. I’m hoping they will release the book beyond Australia but in the meantime you should be able to download a copy from the publisher – please follow this link and let me know if you have any problems. Best wishes, Deb.

No luck, deb. I went through the steps and signed up with Macmillan but then n the end it said, “not deliverable to canada”. I’ve written to bookworld to see if their kobo ebook would work on ipad, but I am guessing I will have no luck there either. I will try again at a later date. Thanks for answering, deb.
