Blossom in Broken Hill
Winter’s finally over in the Southern hemisphere but you’d be hard pressed to know it here in Sydney. A week-long blast of cold rain and strong wind has sent Spring shivering into a corner and any early signs of growth in the garden suddenly seem premature.
So I’m clinging to these pictures from Broken Hill last week, where there was blossom on the trees and colour on the streets.

Dont you love the old potato vine…its such a riot of colour and so tough! Spring is around the corner here in Adelaide. Our garden starting to shake of the drabness of winter as the Cliveas bounce back into life….and the freesias all standing tall…they are going to be dazzling. My gardener pulled the old ones out so I had to replant and for just a few years they are so large and lush….Almost daring myself to think warm! Have just finished reading “Dream Wheeler”….loved it too. You are a great story teller Deb. Still looking forward to catching up with you when next we are in Sydney. So pleased your Love in the Outback is receiving such a great reception!

I drove past that potato vine every day in Broken Hill and it never failed to lift my spirits. And what a treat to have both cliveas and freesia, happy days ahead for you! Thanks for the feedback on Dream Wheeler and look forward to seeing you in Sydney one day.

There are just a few precious days (sometimes even weeks!) when we experience similar conditions. Here’s hoping you enjoy an Indian summer so the kicking and screaming is kept to a minimum! I’m daring to hope the cold wet conditions are over here in Sydney. The climbing rose seems to think so 🙂

And we move into autumn here where I am:). We’re still warm and sunny but the temps will be dropping even this week. Isn’t it funny how we so respond to the seasons? I do love me a turtleneck and jeans but I must say I will miss the balmy temps.

I hardly dare hope but the sun is shining and the temperature is creeping up. Hope those forecasts of drought are wrong!
